Beekeeper, introvert, odd taste. (Those are synonyms, right?)
Just waking up from a long winter's nap. And not too pleased about it.

Celebrating the solstice by finally getting some winter sowing done. Some of the seeds are old, so my expectations are low. Whatever comes up is good.

Gotta stay sane in the dark months.

Normally we're under snow this time of year. But instead, the bees are working the last of the broccoli flowers. I haven't seen anything else in bloom.

I suspect the penchant for extreme Halloween decor is because you don't freeze your fingers hanging the lights.

Russian olive is a weed tree, kind of invasive. But the wood is sure beautiful.

Monarch butterflies migrate like birds. And at night, they like to roost in groups. I was lucky enough to see this flock settle into the tree at sundown.

Got this at Memorial Blood Center (Richfield) for attempting to donate. Good at any location. They only HAVE one location - in Nordeast. Plus, I had the trainee, so didn't actually give blood, though do have a colorful bruise. Well, another day.

Don't know why I answered the clickbait question of "your most random interaction with a celebrity" but.... Johnny Cash once pulled up to me at a traffic light and asked for directions.

Counted three species of bumblebee on the bergamot this morning. This gorgeous lady is a Black-and-Gold. #invertebrates

Yesterday was 90 degrees. Today is 65. Taking advantage of that to get some hot stuff done.

Decided to try some cut comb at the farmers market, see if it sells. Doing it was fairly easy, but then the market got cancelled for a thunderstorm. Well, it keeps. #beekeeping

Anywhere else in the country, it's a big yawn. But in Minnesota, July tomatoes are a treat. Still a couple of weeks until there's enough poundage to can them.

Lost all but one hive over this past winter (weather issues). After this latest split, we're back to 7 hives. (Yes, had to purchase a couple of nucs.) Just have 3 months to coddle them to get ready for next winter. #beekeeping #honeybees

The milkweed is blooming in Minnesota. So far, I've seen 4 monarch caterpillars. A bit later than usual, but they are developing.

Minneapolis, City of Lakes. (That's a milfoil harvester, to try to keep them clear.)

The hailstorm was not kind to the little apples. I'll just have to see if they recover. We were lucky - the guy one valley over lost most of a cornfield.

Garlic scapes got harvested. About 8 pounds or so. The biggest problem is that customers have no idea what they are.

Yes, adults do still sing in pubs. And have a rollicking good time.
