Would someone like to explain to me why a #ReformUK figure - not even an elected one - is yet again on #politicslive, and not a Lib Dem, Green or SNP MP? Or even a NI MP? I'd like the people out to decide the future of the BBC to at least watch the thing.

Yet another #ReformUK voice on #politicslive. This time it's Ann Widdicombe, who like a depressing number of politicians - as if she thinks the only valuable thing the BBC does is put the news on. And that because it gives her an excuse to complain about it.

If the #BBC caves to Trump and pays him ANY money whatsoever, then every journalist in the corporation should walk. Because there will no longer be any credible journalism. This is a grift. Apologies for the edit, by all means, but this is a sleazy grift.

One thing that is clear from the contributions of politicians about DGgate is that MPs seem to have no contact with the BBC as consumers outside the news, Panorama and - for the adventurous - the World Service. Social media carries a similar misleading impression.
