I haven't done any printmaking since college, and that was mostly screenrprinting. I got a wild hair about making a Bob Weir memorial piece by hand. Going good so far! Test prints:

A sheet of rubber carved with a reverse image of thr previous drawing. Rows of small linocut prints taped to a wall. The each rount is a different color, some dark green, some RBY, some a gradient of red, yellow, and black. The print is of a hawk surrounded by text that is too small to read in this photo.

My studio assistant has unfortunately fallen prey to a cat trap.
A brown, grey, and orange long haired cat is sitting on a pile of papers on the floor. The papers have copies of the same red tailed hawk on them that have then been drawn on in pencil. The room around her is messy with a painting easel, foot acupuncture mat, a desk chair, a small humifier, and a sharpie marker.

From the catalogue note: “Philippe Jullian in his book 'Esthètes et magiciens' from 1969 described in the following words this 'Belle Dame sans merci', the archetype of end of the century womanhood: ‘With her enigmatic expression, her closed eyes, focused on an inner world of reverie, the symbolist woman evokes chimeric images haunted by death, witchcraft and the widespread cult of the absorption of hallucinatory drugs. The Art Nouveau woman, as for her, only offered a pale reflection of this theme in the end. The femme fatal was done away with: she was replaced by a disheveled enchantress. Woman’s new role fell to allegory. Although always symbolist, she now personified ideals such as Justice, Faith, Truth or Progress. Indeed, she can be seen brandishing a torch as the embodiment of Progress as she transforms into the Electricity Fairy.’” A bronze statuette of a woman, torso and up. Very serene, mysterious expression. Pantinated, meaning it is green in color, to give the impression of weathered bronze.
