I've had a few recent encounters that reminded me how hard, or at least different, humour is for people. For example, some struggle with deadpan humour, and what you're describing sounds like someone trying to affirm that they actually get it!

He cited the "hardship" (caused by people sometimes parking badly and blocking their driveways) being forced upon only one side of the street. This is definitely a neighbourhood with tons of people coming in to park and go to the restaurants, but...

I'd like a street that kids can safely bike on! 🤷
