And getting past small talk, establishing rapport is a skill! If you can get someone talking about themselves for a minute and get good enough at trivia to be able to acknowledge the way they see the world in a way they understand, you’ve already made a friend. It doesn’t take much!

and I don't mean to paper over some of the darker sides of American socialist history, I'm well aware of Francis Bellamy and other Christian nationalist socialists. but honestly I don't expect the Christians to rally back to this anytime soon anyway, as much as I miss the Bleeding Heart Liberals.

Look at who gets elevated by the most acceptable fringes in this direction: Bernie, yes, but also AOC, Zohran Mamdani, and historically Fred Hampton, MLK Jr, etc. Socialism has no path to electoral victory except via minorities, and that's proof of its health to me

I guess to be fair, I'm not the kind of person who runs a page like that, because it takes a certain kind of know-it-all to be a public figure on this sort of thing. I think that it's perfectly acceptable that I acknowledge I *don't* know how many things would work and so leave those to others.

I think it might, for the same reason that the post above assumes that rich white grandpas fought in the wars: capitalism makes the image of the nation look like the elites. breaking that propaganda would be good for us on its own. you can tell by how much certain people scream at accurate art.

maybe this illustrates it better: since we're talking about the box as a closed system, effectively we care about the average density of the box and its contents versus the density of the outside air. so yeah, I suppose it does work like boats in that way.

heavier with the gas. the gas is not inherently lift generating, it simply holds space against atmospheric pressure using less mass than air. if the space is held structurally, then the vacuum is better for buoyancy, since you're removing mass.
