I hesitate to comment since my painting skills are limited, but you could try dry brushing with eg. grey. That would probably knock out the shine.

I have so much respect for both Lise Meitner and Emmy Noether. To have made such impacts under such difficult circumstances is beyond impressive.

New Zealand/Aotearoa is spectacular. A bit of everything and more. I loved every minute I was there. The LAX stop over otoh was hell on earth.

As my Dad ages the decline in the story is all too real. I had never thought of it as mirroring the trajectory of life but perhaps I’m projecting.

Not sure I could cope with the novel of Flowers for Algernon. I read the short story when I was probably about 11 and it still makes me a bit quivery lipped 52 years later.

I don’t think anyone has the rights. I would love to see Tuor, Turin, Beren, Luthien, Melian, Ungoliant, Morgoth and co. done well but not in my lifetime methinks.
