I know this is a bit more metaphysical than people are used to seeing from me, but I feel there is a psychological and personal benefit to slow and thoughtful consumption just as there is a moral imperative to do so.

I know that finding higher-quality, ethical brands is a challenge for many. You can use goodonyou.eco to check out the ethics of various brands and find a great many lists of sustainable brands that cater to your needs!

And it's also important to remember that when it comes to new clothes, a higher price tag doesn't automatically equal higher-quality, but you can get nice, sustainably and ethically-made clothes new for the same price that you can get clothes from Zara or Anthropologie.

I'm not saying you shouldn't ever buy garments priced under $20, of course.

In fact, thanks to the thriving secondhand market, you can find tons of high-quality garments online or in-person for around that price range.

Having fewer, nicer garments has enriched my life, and taking the time to pick out higher-quality items means I will have the chance to create decades worth of memories in them. I will relive those beautiful moments of my life every time I wear my clothes - every single day.
