That’s a shame but I agree it’s not for everyone. When I first played the games I was bothered by how bullet spongey the enemies felt and how slow I felt. I don’t really know what it was but I started to really enjoy the series in 2 and 3 specifically, and I like returning to reach. Better shooting!

Yknow I’ve never heard that as a reason why someone didn’t like JoJo, that’s interesting. Personally I think jojo usually does a good job of maintaining tone even with levity, though thinking about it I can definitely see some examples of it failing (like the silver chariot requiem fight). Honestly my biggest issue with one piece is that it shoots itself in the foot every time it tries to do anything remotely in line with that theme, so for me the issue usually comes down to execution rather than intention. This is coming from someone who likes pre TS one piece btw

That’s really interesting actually. In the case of the game, 1 and 2 are my personal favorites because of the exploration in between fights— the combat is fine, fun enough, but the real fun comes from learning about the world while you find the secret pathways you can take. Guess I gotta read them!
