Metro is seriously considering barely funding Ciclavia for the next cycle, and you should click the link below to tell them to get it together:

Some good news.

London is meeting legal limits for toxic NO2 pollution for the first time – almost 200 years earlier than predicted – following the Mayor’s "world leading air pollution policies," City Hall announces.

The Ultra Low Emissions Zone - and similar policies - really do work.

Can’t wait for bozo not to be the face of our city anymore. Soon…
What an insane quote from the mayor! Part of the reason taller buildings are so expensive is because of the requirements that are triggered once the building meets the high-rise definition – so if you raise the definition’s limit (only to the state/national standard, I might add), you lower costs!

Peak NIMBY brain is trying to keep a neighboring airport open, even though the planes that land there are literally spraying toxins over your home, because if the airport closes then they're going to build affordable housing there. lapublicpress.org/2025/06/sant...
Santa Monica's elite are using an airport to block affordable housing
A campaign to build housing on the site of the soon-to-be-shuttered airport is drawing pushback from opponents of new development.

Look at the difference between NorCal and SoCal.

In the Bay, out of the 11 Senators repping urban areas, 8 voted yes.

In LA County, out of 13 Senators only 4 voted yes.

The LA delegation is killing housing bills.

A quote that really stuck with me from this episode is: "Mobility is about more than transportation, mobility is about access to life."
Times are hard. But I continue to draw strength from people who are doing good work, like Charles T. Brown. We had him on @thewaroncars.bsky.social to talk about his essential new book, Arrested Mobility: Overcoming the Threat to Black Movement. thewaroncars.org/2025/05/20/e... Listen if you can.

10 year after the launch of Vision Zero in Los Angeles, an audit of the program was completed and released.

The result? A damning indictment.

The Vision Zero Steering Committee stopped meeting in 2018!!

The Mayor’s proposed budget is a disaster for street safety. It will result in worse sidewalks, worse pavement condition, no new road safety projects, and may even lead to the end of popular events like CicLAvia.

Make your voice heard!

During your lunch break, please call the following senators offices in support of SB 79: Grayson, Cortese, Caballero, Padilla.
If your state senator sits on the Senate Housing Committee, I implore you to give their office a call on Monday to tell them you support SB 79 (transit-oriented upzoning within 1/2 mile of rail and BRT stops).

If you dare to ask CalTrans how they expect cyclists to come back when they only put a bike lane in one direction on a deadly highway, they tell you there’ll be crosswalks, and bike lanes in other segments. We’re doing great.

A driver just tailgated me and sprayed me with his windshield wipers because I had the audacity to take the lane for 12 seconds so that I could make a left turn.
I even crossed a double yellow to merge early and get out of his way. Yes, cyclist entitlement is definitely the problem 🤡

if i’m killed by a car while riding my bike you should know two things:
1) i was doing what i loved
2) politicize the hell out of it

Update: after 4 days, SMPD finally took my report, and say they’re likely to be pressing charges and should be able to get me his identity that way.
I still want to figure this out so our ordinance can be helpful when people can’t get this info through PD (that’s kind of the point of the ordinance).
Yo internet, who knows how to find the identity of a CA driver using their plate w/o paying a fortune? This guy assaulted me and, in order to take him to small court w our local ordinance, I’m supposed to provide his info, which PD won’t give me because they now have a criminal offense on him. 👌💀
