Because it puts a cap on corporate profits, forcing them to contribute to public services, maintaining environmental protections, and safeguarding workers and unions inside the zones. Zone Fever has arrived by stealth in Brexit Britain.

Blackrock will have the right to sue the UK Govt should it choose to pass laws to protect the environment, council assets, protect workers rights in SEZs...how? The UK's 86 SEZs already contain relaxed laws and regs on employment rights and environmental protections, separate from the host country.

Plymouth's deregulated Freeport is one small port inside a 75km SEZ.
What goes on in SEZs is an expansionist corporate political model that has no interest in supporting local infrastructure.

The UK is being privatised, Special Economic zones are a global phenomenon, accelerated after the 2008 finacial crash, SEZs are neocolonial incarnations of the Empire where capitalism replaces democracy.

BlackRock will privatise Britain – our housing, education, health, nature and green energy – with our taxpayer money as sweetener.
