This is NOT a dinosaur. Sillosuchus was a bipedal, beaked, herbivorous distant relative of crocodilians which lived during the Late Triassic in South America

The Triassic marks the appearance of the Erythrosuchids, a group of large, stocky archosauriforms with disproportionately massive, deep heads. These are two of their most well known representatives: Garjainia prima and Erythrosuchus africanus

Writing about the evolution of eyes, a story that takes us back to the Cambrian. I don't draw Cambrian life very much (though stay tuned...), but I reconstructed the Burgess Shale fauna for my book Life Through the Ages II back in 2017. (There's too much light in this scene, btw). #paleoart
