as an experiment, wrote some custom profiles for tuned / tuned-ppd to control GPU frequency/governor and CPU governor explicitly on RK3588/panthor/MNT Reform (Next). please note that the FPS are not representative because screen recording slows the machine […]

current state of things (MNT Reform Next)
December 2, 2025 at 9:31 PM
oh, got another green tinted PCB photo from JLC for MNT Reform Next's right-hand port board (to confirm parts placement). this one has a lot of superspeed USB going on, including a TI hub and a reclocker/redriver. plus a less exciting HDMI port. here i'll […]

4 microamps in BQ76922 shutdown mode... seems too good to be true

testing idle (pack disconnected from mainboard) power draw on MNT Reform Next battery back, by splicing Nordic Power Profiler Kit 2 between one of the cells and the rest of the pack. currently 171 microamps average, that's fine i think

confirmation photo of first production test of MNT Reform Next left-hand port board, by JLCPCB. we'll solder in 2 chips and 2 connectors locally to skip the lead times for this test run.

@sad_electronics just a quick snapshot with a keyboard module i had here in the lab, as a demo
November 28, 2025 at 4:22 PM
recently @sad_electronics contributed this little adapter design which turns MNT Pocket Reform keyboard+trackball modules into standalone USB-C devices! very useful for testing, hacking, unbricking or reuse of the module.

what i did:
- 1.2v ldo removed (optional)
- 3.3v 22uF cap placed again (had to go initially because of mechanical interferfence with 1 battery plug)
- 10k pulldown […]

and i can't believe it: the damn microsd express card is detected! note that this hub was not connected to my board at all. it was just ~vibing~ on the table
November 25, 2025 at 7:54 PM
with this device removed from my table, the refclk pin on my board suddenly looks pretty clean!
November 25, 2025 at 7:53 PM
i turned of my pc and all kinds of lamps and stuff until i noticed it's this RSHTECH powered usb hub from amazon :0
