Prior post gave me some inspiration: a view of how the Leafs are faring in various metrics to this point in the season, how those results measure up against 2024-25 teams, and the playoff fates of those 2024-25 teams.

It's not great ATM!

With enough interest I could keep this updated regularly.

Hard to understate just how impactful this album has been for me. No other album comes close. It sculpted my musical preferences, it sat with me during hard times, and it brought lifelong friends into my orbit. Happy 25 years, Hybrid Theory.

How is Grubauer still in the league?

Yahoo just paywalled Rest of Week lineup dressing. Fuck that.

Fantrax is going to have a good 2026. Hope they’re ready.

It's often been the case that the Leafs are bad when the Habs are good, and vice versa, but last season was the third-strongest season for the two teams combined. Wonder where 20252026 ends up landing.

Yep.

MLB is absolutely killing it with their IG Story-esque Game Story feature for highlights. Hoping the NHL / NBA emulate this.

Interesting thing about this is that Nashville had the 19th-highest PP TOI in the league last year, so this isn’t skewed by powerplay possession. (They should have just used ES, but alas.)

Preds scored 137 goals (32nd) on 170 expected goals (20th) last year at ES and had the league’s 18th-best PP.

Fuck Jerry Seinfeld.

‘The Leafs will sorely miss Mitch Marner on the PK.’

Yes, the 17th-best PK over the last three seasons will sorely miss the guy with the third-worst GA/60 at 4v5 over the last three seasons (min 50 mins).

This was the Wild’s best jersey.

I analyzed the conference finals teams from the last six playoffs to see how much cap their top four earners took up each season. Then I compared it to the Leafs.

On average, the Leafs paid their top four 8% more than Cup winners. It was never going to work if those players didn't dominate.

Here's how the players were grouped

Updating this now that the playoffs are over.

- The two cup finalists had the best depth (bottom-6) scoring
- Florida's bottom-6 production was on another level, and a big part of why they trucked everyone
- The top-heavy Leafs had the worst depth scoring. This is a recording.

It’s wild to me when Nylander is lumped in with Matthews/Marner when talking about playoff underachievers.

Only one of these guys maintain their offensive production in the playoffs.

Willy produces more for about 60% of the cost.

He’s among the best playoff goal scorers over the last 6 seasons.

I find this summary lacking in substance. Why does it make it nearly impossible? What is the change to the asylum process? Why won't they have a chance to explain their situations? This required more expansion.

Wonder if the Leafs could pry Mavrik Bourque out of Dallas for Jason Robertson’s brother.

Took a look at ES & PP TOI for the final 8 teams in 2025 playoffs to determine Top/Bottom 6 production:

Assuming it's EDM/FLA in the Stanley Cup Finals, they got there by either:

- Having their Top 6 absolutely dominate.
- Having their depth scoring come through.

The Leafs had neither.
