We used to spend time - real, substantive time - on "what does the data mean", "what are we trying to emphasise", "how is it going to be interpreted". But the slop is just... "dear sirmedem have gud ibfrograohic". It's *worse* than any of the bullshit we've ever had.

Honestly, if you're building a bar chart, there's only so many ways you can fuck it up, and learning to not do that is a 20 minute YouTube video away. It ain't hard.
But now - AI chartjunk is taking us somewhere new again. From dull industrial monotony to generic exotic-flavoured slop. It's grim.

No idea if they are any good, and you probably have already seen them, but Google turned up both “Koi-Koi Japan” and “hololive Holo’s Hanafuda”, you could check them if you haven’t already

Had exactly this experience the other week. I was trying to remember the name of a song that had a specific lyric. The summary confidently made up a completely fictional song, rather than tell me the real title. I then had to cross check to make sure it was lying to me, because maybe *I* was wrong.

"you have to check it", a thing that everyone will definitely do with this tool that the system has put in specifically to save their time, and without the documented bias in favour of things that are already written down
