Had a friend here this weekend who loves to cook so took THE cookbook out for a spin with my first ever focaccia thanks to @mostlybree.kitrocha.com. We ended up eating before taking a photo, but so yum and so easy!

In true writer style I have been updating website links to avoid starting to actually write something new.

I realized in the process it had been TEN years since I published the first book in my fantasy trilogy. TEN. books2read.com/rr-trilogy

I did a little writerly post on my blog about how fiction books never really die: mlhumphrey.com/2025/08/30/b...

(Short version. I turned back on an ad for a book I published back in July 2017 and surprise, surprise, saw sales on it.)

Perfect Saturday night watching bad TV, surfing the internet, and listening to my snoring pup.

"Pet a dog today" is always good advice. As is snuggle a dog, hug a dog, kiss a dog, etc.

(This message brought to you by my 100+-pound floof who does not understand this whole "working" thing that prevents me from doing that 24/7.)

The world may be a chaotic mess, but I figure as long as I still have this girl in my life I'm doing alright.

I have no idea if I'd like the chosen tea, but I certainly like how it sounds. (As I shop for storage shelves and want to buy the bright yellow ones to hide behind bright blue curtains.)

Used an ergonomic (size 7) crochet hook for the first time and liked it. I didn't think it would make much difference because it's still pretty narrow, but it really did help.

(Now to stop improvising halfway through a project because it kind of comes out weird.)

The world is on fire but I'm taking a moment to feel satisfied that I finally finished my Excel 2024 books. With a day job and the world being the world they felt much harder to write this time around, but they are DONE and I am pleased about that. mlhumphrey.com/2025/02/23/e...

I have Office 2024, but I think I still had to turn off things to get them to stay away from my writing.

Try going into Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings, Privacy Options, Privacy Settings, and turning off all the connected experiences.

At the end of the day I truly enjoyed that trip to Iceland. The people were lovely and kind. The views of nature were stunning. And the skies were a lovely kind of broody.

5200 more words done today but still not done! At least I found it fun to create the below diagram to visualize how to think through writing an Excel IFS function.

Obviously I am very fun at parties...

It's December so I've set Rider's Revenge, the first book in the oh-so-cleverly named Rider's Revenge Trilogy, to free. (books2read.com/ridersrevenge)

Let me discuss a few things about this book/series. First, main cover is the horse one but the print books may still have that teal one available.

The amazing DogEared Design (www.dogeareddesign.com/covers#/new-...) did the covers for my Rider's Revenge series.

(I just put the ebook of Book 1 to free for December (books2read.com/ridersrevenge. Print covers may be this one or the Damonza version damonza.com/portfolio/ that is also gorgeous.)

That was kind of fun. And I'd say I am that weird kind of person who remembers random details about people and then points someone to them when it comes up in conversation.

(Dates and concrete facts, nope. Things about people, yep. Names? Not so much.)

A Dead Man and Doggie Delights (books2read.com/doggiedelights)

It grew out of asking myself what I'd do if the dead thing my dog peed on was actually a body, but also is the start of a journey for my character from cranky quasi-loner to finding community. And has lots of dogs, too.

Hannah is very put out that she can't eat the fifty-plus-year old afghan "squares" I was sorting.

Also, if anyone knows of a really old afghan pattern that used six-sided flowers in what looks to be six sets of colors with four shades per color, please share a picture. #crochet

Most of the photos I take of my Newfie she's just a big black fluffy ball of fur so there's nothing to share. But here's a recent one where she actually looks like a dog. #DogsOfBluesky

I spent the evening making this little guy so I'd keep off the internet. Too bad I can't just do that for the next decade or so...
