To be clear, controversy has dogged the govt around this case - besides a Border Patrol agent shooting Martinez and apparently bragging about it, it also came out at court that the CBP vehicle Martinez and Santos Ruiz allegedly struck was subsequently driven from Chicago to Maine.

A status hearing in Martinez and Santos Ruiz's case is scheduled for 4 pm today. Hopefully we'll learn more then about why the govt wants to toss the case.

I think they are making a vast mistake. Israel has a large Russian population and among other things, Russia has still a presence in the region - Syria's new regime talking about Russian patrols to contain Israel - plus could always up aid to Iran (and other regional opponents of Israel).

The thing is that I'm temperamentally agreeable to the idea that you should avoid protesting places of worship altogether or to the best of your ability, but this is qualitatively different from claiming that there's nothing illegal or wrong being done when hosting an org that promotes settlement.
