Still today:

The VCR Les ordered ages ago finally showed up! Now I'll be able to watch Christmas videotapes on the new bedroom TV (I hope).

The box was labeled, "No, you can't guess what's inside by shaking me."

Also today:

The neighborhood association person returned my call about the after-dark door-banging incidents. She said they haven't heard about anything similar from other residents. We agreed it was probably pranksters. Maybe they got bored, because we haven't had another since Sunday night.

Still today:

So we called the county police to report it -- figuring we would be advised to do that anyway -- just to get it on file. A police officer talked to Les and said they would have a car drive by in the early night occasionally. Deterrence, I hope.

Continued:

Because of three slightly alarming incidents of somebody banging on the front door in the evening and instantly disappearing, I phoned the community association number and left a message (hoping to ask for extra security focus on our street for a while). No reply yet.

Also today:

This afternoon I finally remembered to watch Reverend Patti's Facebook Advent meditation recorded on Monday.

I hung a few more tree ornaments.

Papa John's pizza for dinner.

My delayed Amazon delivery arrived at last, including T. Kingfisher's new fantasy novel, SNAKE-EATER. Three Kingfisher books in this calendar year (and another forthcoming in March)!

Dinner at Adam's ribs. I had the chili, as almost always.

Also today, I'm breathlessly waiting for T. Kingfisher's new book, released on Monday. Amazon promised it's coming tonight, finally.

Otherwise, routine Thursday cleaning.

I wrote a check for the property tax bill, one task over with until next fall.

And set up an "Everplans" account the lawyer arranged for us, as an additional venue to store our estate documents.

I recruited an author to interview in my January newsletter and sent her the questions.

After a frustrating struggle with the website, I managed to order my aunt's Christmas gift.

All the cards are signed and sealed, and I've begun stamping them.

I started on this week's blog post.

Bagged some leaves along the edge of the driveway. That will be the last leaf-removal of the year; keeping them off the driveway is all I care about.

I composed my Christmas shopping list, which is much less complicated now that online ordering exists.

Setting up the Advent wreath on the dining room table.

Turkey sandwiches, plus the sides we brought home Thursday, for dinner.

Les is making chicken curry and tomato-mushroom curry (since we didn't cook a turkey to make curry from).

I've recorded a Hallmark Christmas romance movie (yet another variant on "A Christmas Carol") to watch tonight. You can always find a Christmas movie on that channel. :)
