Obama did not set out to cut SS, but at one point during budget negotiations he offered a proposal that would have slowed the growth of SS benefits in an attempt to get a budget deal and reduce the deficit. He dropped the proposal and focused on expanding SS.

I agree, but I’ll still stick with the Dems. I’ve seen what happens when we don’t. Gore wasn’t good enough so we got Bush. Hilary wasn’t good enough so we got Trump. Harris wasn’t good enough so we got Trump again. How many time in your life were you happy the Dems lost? Nixon? Reagan?

Most of those programs would’ve been shut down years ago if not for Democrats and if they’re still around in 5 years, that’ll be why. Republicans tried to gut them multiple times. Many of the worst GOP plans were stopped because Democrats stood in the way.

You must have been out of the country and missed it.

Here’s what Ohio voted for: project 2025

Mass deportations, border wall expansion, big tariffs, tax cuts, cut $880 B from Medicaid & food aid, more presidential power, ban CRT & trans athletes, pro-charter schools. Bypassing law enforcement agencies to directly enforce immigration

Fair point neglecting your base has consequences. But let’s not pretend Democrats haven’t tried. They’ve pushed for union rights, healthcare, student debt relief, and climate action. The Republicans had Project 2025. It shouldn’t have been a hard choice.

That’s not how I sound, that’s how cynicism sounds. Democrats didn’t sit on their hands for 24 years. They expanded healthcare, fought for workers’ rights, defended voting access, and tried to hold a corrupt president accountable. They are still fighting for us now.

Ohio went for Trump by 8% despite two impeachments, trying to overturn an election, stealing classified docs, defrauding students, looting his charity, vowing revenge, taxing trade partners, and praising dictators. But sure, blame Democrats for not doing enough.

Democrats aren’t perfect, but this mess isn’t on them. America was warned, but still chose a felon for president. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the ACA, and protections for unions and consumer, all exist because Democrats fought for them.

Absolutely. The attack on democracy began decades ago, and every step toward authoritarianism was met with silence. Now we have a government so weak it can’t even declare that the President is not above the law. Trump didn’t need to seize power, it was handed to him before he even took office.

They didn’t save $150B, they cut $150B. Cutting isn’t the same as saving. Many of those cuts will cost us more in the long run. When this mess is over, the debt will be even higher, assuming there’s anyone left in government to keep track of it.

My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan's spell

And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died

Good, I’ll add you to the list.

Yes, but it should be done in a just and legal way. I recommend sending thugs in masks to put them all in chains, shave their heads, and deport them to a prison in El Salvador.
