Baseball, man.
Lots of opinions and numbers, mostly about the Red Sox
Sox fans…how we feeling at this moment?
I’m not really sure why many #RedSox fans are so sure that Alex Bregman is going to sign in Boston

I don’t understand the fans that think that spending well into the tax penalties is the only way of having a good offseason.

Overall hard to not look at this as win for Breslow and co. Teel and Montgomery are tough pills to swallow, Meidroth could very well be a starter for the White Sox on opening day at 3B/2B and Wikelman could be a late innings reliever, but none of it matters. #RedSox got their ACE.

Cannot wait to see the full package back for Crochet. But this is absolutely a MASSIVE first step in a successful #RedSox offseason.
December 11, 2024 at 7:01 PM
I think Sam Kennedy needs to be blasted to the moon and never to be heard from again in regards to the #RedSox. Every time he speaks it’s lip service. He also should have 0 say in roster construction. Let your baseball minds handle those decisions
December 11, 2024 at 1:44 PM
The amount of times I’ve heard/seen Willy Adames and Alex Bregman being tied to the Sox is very concerning.

As unpopular as Aroldis Chapman is amongst #RedSox fans, public perception doesn’t win games.

He’s the best LH reliever this team has had in some time.
December 3, 2024 at 6:10 PM
Other than the fact that Chapman is a well documented piece of shit, I can’t argue the logic here.

Relievers are so volatile year over year and even as good as Tanner Scott has been, going with a 1/~11 MM deal isn’t a bad bet.

Scott has plenty of suitors, I’d bet he gets 4yrs at 18-22MM annually

All of these fake “reporter” Red Sox fans are sure making it easy for the rest of the baseball world to dunk on Sox fans if/when Soto doesn’t sign in Boston.
December 1, 2024 at 9:36 PM
Minus Snell now obviously, but this is even more true now with the ridiculous amount of people choosing to believe fake reports they see about Soto.

We would all be thrilled to sign him, but the amount of bullshit being spewed on Twitter currently is insanity.
I can see a reality where the Sox sign one of Burnes/Fried/Snell and without signing Soto and some fans still thinking that the offseason was a failure. If you’re one of those fans, feel free to hit the unfollow button

Very funny how many people say “won’t believe it until Passan says it” and then when Passan speaks and it doesn’t fit their narrative, they suddenly believe the rando “news breakers”
November 28, 2024 at 10:38 PM
Just get it done. I don’t care what the total $$ is, this is not the offseason to wait around for the “perfect” deal to fall into your lap. Spend the damn money.
The Boston Red Sox, who were in on Blake Snell, now are focusing on Max Fried to upgrade their rotation.
November 27, 2024 at 4:51 AM
Blake Snell is such a good fit with the #Dodgers. His inability to handle a full seasons workload will be masked well with the sheer number of quality SP options in LA.

$36M over 5 years might seem like an overpay, but if you really want the player, you go to the lengths it takes to get it done.

Now officially have to react to the market. Don’t love it!!!
Soto or no Soto, would love to see the Red Sox set the market on SP this offseason and not just react to it and go into scramble mode if their top target goes elsewhere.

Identify your top target and make him an offer they can’t refuse
Wouldn’t it make sense for a team that is going to target elite starting pitchers with or without Soto to act quickly on the pitchers to present an even better picture for Soto? Just saying …
November 27, 2024 at 4:14 AM
Well, there’s the first domino to fall. Can’t miss out on Fried/Burnes now. Don’t let Juan Soto be the reason you miss out on the actual need of this team this winter.
November 27, 2024 at 4:04 AM
I would really love to get my hopes up in the #RedSox pursuit of Juan Soto, but my gut feeling is that Steve Cohen is just waiting to hear the best offer from any team, then he’ll tack an extra $50M on top. Just seems like one way or another, he’s not leaving NY.
November 26, 2024 at 4:13 PM
Those who chose to believe in reports like this from fake “news breaking” accounts are choosing to be let down.
November 26, 2024 at 4:06 PM
Genuinely curious…are there actually #RedSox fans that would prefer Willy Adames/Alex Bregman over Nolan Arenado if the Sox were to move Devers off of third? And if so why?

Just this move in a vaccum, moving Devers to 1B so you can deal Casas would be an unmitigated disaster.
November 25, 2024 at 7:34 PM
I don’t think this is exactly a controversial take but if Casas, Abreu, and Wong only gets *close* to landing Crochet, you walk away. Immense potential, but no track record of sustained success to warrant that kind of return.

Not as vehemently against the Arenado rumors as many seems to be. What I would be vehemently against would be trading Casas so that Raffy could move to 1B if they dealt for Arenado. That would be next level brain dead stuff. If you want to move Raffy off of 3B, just make him a DH.
