I finally bought a house 4 years ago in my mid forties. I have no retirement savings, I don't get vacations, I've only bought 2 new cars in my life and driven them for 200k+ miles. I've never been on government insurance or handouts. I work hard but can't take care of my health. I survive.

I'm a contractor so I have to buy my insurance through the healthcare exchanges and make good money when I can work. But I have 3 long term disabling conditions, so if and when I burn out and can't work I lose my job and have to run up credit cards to keep paying. I've gone bankrupt on medical.
