I was trying to identify the point where this occurred. somewhere between about 2012 and 2016 we went from a society going forwards to one where it was okay to be fascist. I feel it was a reaction to the occupy movement saying maybe rich people should pay more tax.

Realised I hadn't watched the end. Watched it, regretted it more. Literally last lines were them basically undermining the entire premise of Yeoh's character. It felt like it was made by people who hated the entire film and everything about it. I think they wanted to make firefly. They failed.

Perhaps they just spent the money on michelle yeoh's wardrobe, which was the best thing in it. Weird Irish Vulcan possessed by tiny alien was just odd, London guy in mechsuit was pointless and starfleet woman didn't have a character - which to be fair is on brand for most starfleet people.

US democrats spent too much time watching the west wing and not enough time watching andor. There is only one way they will get their country back, and it's been done before but it won't be done by protest marches. There is a Benjamin Franklin quote that is very apt for this....

I don't think even now democrats really get this. They think all they need is to win an election and they can sort it all, not realising that trump controls all branches of government and most media. It's never been a fair fight, but the system is now fully designed to allow minority rule forever.
