That parenthetical is giving real “once and future” energy. Fool so foolish he thought he could change it forever. They’re placating you, fool. You’re a clown, fool.

So wait, I can’t be in the military now because I have a beard!?! 😭😭😭😩😩😩

(I’m also a pleasantly portly gentleman with a interest in things like peace and the Posse Comitatus Act and like not obeying illegal orders, so yeah, it probably wasn’t going to work out anyway)

I feel like this is a safe space where I can be myself, love what I love unreservedly, and pursue my passions!

The don’t call St. Paul “St. Pothole” for nothing!

Be careful exiting 94 westbound and turning left onto Cretin!

Writing to clear up a confusing news story from earlier today. I was not named Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of Kansas. That was former Brooklyn Nets Head Coach Jacque Vaughn.

L to R: Jacque Vaughan (coach); Michael Kleber-Diggs (poet).

Every once in a while I listen to an audiobook, and I am so blown away by the reading that I find myself rewinding passages just to hear them performed again. Susan Jameson’s reading of Kate Atkinson’s CASE HISTORIES is one of those audiobooks. The book is great, and Jameson is MASTERFUL!

Cracking up at the idea that Elon Musk stepping back at DOGE to focus on Tesla will help revive the brand. Like the only issue is his destructive work for the Trump administration. I mean, I know Americans have short memories, but give me a break!

When I think Tesla, this is what comes to mind.

EVERGREEN CONVERSATION WITH MOM

Act I, scene 1:

Mom: 85, dressed nicely at home (no plans to leave her house).

Son: 56, off to work, wearing light gray jeans & a long-sleeve two-hues blue shirt.

Mom: “Aren’t you teaching today?”

Son: “I am; tonight.”

Mom: “Is THAT what you’re wearing?”

Our house was built in 1913, and the windows can be a little drafty. I joke that at least we’ll never be overcome by carbon monoxide. Anyway, here’s me, during a recent cold snap, with a warming blanket on my legs, while watching either THE PITT or ON CALL.

Temp for this morning’s early dog walk is 9 degrees. Weather app says “feels like -1.” I don’t disagree. It’s all good. My beanie is warm, and, as an added bonus, it has a bulb in it so all I have to do is look down to see any tasks the boys leave for my attention.

Whoever paid for this list of potential customers was sold a wooden nickel, a bill of goods, a bridge in a town with no rivers. I’m saying they’re on the wrong track and barking up the wrong tree. Because trying to get me to buy a fur coat is like tryna boil water in an ice box! It ain’t happenin’!

My toxic* teacher trait is leaving one out-of-context note on the whiteboard for the next teacher to find.

Elinor is home FOR A 30 DAYS (!) rehearsing for a show at the Whitney. You read that correctly, the show is in NYC, but rehearsals are here in St. Paul! Elinor turned down the offer to stay in a hotel and is staying with us instead - it’s wonderful. Here we are after lunch at Hard Times Cafe.
