This rapid debt accumulation is the fastest outside of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the debt having reached $37 trillion in August.

A free press isn’t free if stories get shelved just because the powerful won’t talk. CBS pulling the CECOT story on Venezuelan deportees sent to El Salvador’s brutal prison erodes trust. We are losing trust that government and media serve us, not the elite.

What a disgrace for 60

In this week’s newsletter, I explain how Trump’s $1,776 payments is actually one of the most dangerous things he’s ever done. Armies loyal to a paycheck and not the government is how you get authoritarian overthrows of republics.
Trump’s ‘Warrior Dividend’ Might Be His Scariest Idea Yet
In this week’s Elie v. US, The Nation’s justice correspondent explores the authoritarian threat beneath Trump’s bonuses for military families. Plus, a case for getting rid of the Second Amendment.

He says "several hundred thousand" docs will be released today, "and then over the next couple weeks, I expect several hundred thousand more."

All files are required by law to be released today.

Targeting Rob Reiner, he did it again, digging a hole in the bottom of the barrel and falling even further.
