Just because it all seems timely.

Tonight's anti-Nazi feature is Ernst Lubitsch's audacious 1942 comedy To Be or Not To Be, starring Carole Lombard and Jack Benny. Dinner is leftover Swiss g’hacktes mit hörnli (link to recipe in comments). Unlike Switzerland, our home is not a neutral country when it comes to Nazis. Must-see film!

Me to K: "Did you know it would take us 13 hours and 46 minutes and cost us about $47 in tolls to drive to Gray's Papaya to get a hot dog?"

K: "And you feel we need that information why?"

The anti-Nazi film showing at our house tonight. Possibly the greatest entertainment Hollywood ever produced, it is also a film about deep personal sacrifice in the face of pure evil. Unfortunately, this 1942 classic becomes more and more timely by the day.

Watching the Orson Welles film The Stranger the other night (as well as current events, obviously) has got me on an "anti-Nazi" movie kick.

Any favorite anti-Nazi flicks? I know Casablanca, Schindler's List and The Sound of Music will score high. Any personal favorites?

I revisited this Orson Welles film from 1946 last night. Nostalgia for the days when the Nazis were still widely considered the bad guys.

Making Swiss Steak for Sunday dinner and listening to Wussy's sad and beautiful new album. After the events of the past year+ this one hits hard.
