We had a nice evening. Chili for dinner, then Kath and my brother Dan finally got to watch the lovely documentary on our friend Garland Jeffreys (I had seen it before). Garland's wife Claire did a wonderful job. I wish the film could find proper distribution.

We had a nice evening. Chili for dinner, then Kath and my brother Dan finally got to watch the lovely documentary on our friend Garland Jeffreys (I had seen it before). Garland's wife Claire did a wonderful job. I wish the film could find proper distribution.

Not sure what it feels like where you are today, but something feels ominous and out-of-whack to me (even more than usual). Extra anxiety. Hopefully it's just lack of good sleep. But these days, anything could happen.

The number of friends and acquaintances who have passed in just the past 8 weeks or so alone is truly head-spinning to me. Most were around my age, some even younger. Aging has a way of getting your attention, one way or another. This is one of the worst ways.

Tonight's anti-Nazi feature is Ernst Lubitsch's audacious 1942 comedy To Be or Not To Be, starring Carole Lombard and Jack Benny. Dinner is leftover Swiss g’hacktes mit hörnli (link to recipe in comments). Unlike Switzerland, our home is not a neutral country when it comes to Nazis. Must-see film!
