interesting post with a non-hypey perspective on LLMs and AGI.
imo most of the AGI hype is just marketing for the big labs (and their secondary rounds)

i don’t know who needs to hear this, but reminder that gpt-4 (yes, the one that’s almost TWO YEARS old!) is still the largest, most intelligent, and most expensive model OpenAI has ever released
even with all the hype around reasoning models, it’s still twice as expensive as O1-preview!

i don’t know who needs to hear this, but reminder that gpt-4 (yes, the one that’s almost TWO YEARS old!) is still the largest, most intelligent, and most expensive model OpenAI has ever released

imo there’s bound to be an “ai is overhyped” reaction at some point
(actually, i think it’s already happening but will take some time to trickle down to YC)
for example in this community, AI still has some hype, but duckdb has much more
