I agree, for the most part, except—when a director of this caliber takes on franchise projects, they bank goodwill with the studios to later create their own project with so much more gusto than they ever could have imagined before. Villenuve’s next personal project will kill people with its focus.

Apropos of nothing, but if you haven't read the short story "Radicalized" by Cory Doctorow, now would be the time. Prescient, dark, and hopeful.
