- Jeanette Winterson, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit
Littlest nephew watched The Snowman for the first time and had his first proper emotional reaction to telly when the Snowman melted. I’ve seen it upwards of 35 times and it never gets easier. But then he rewound it and said “that’s better”. Smart kid.

Sanctuary of Light at The Crooked Spire in Chesterfield is magical. It’s on from 5:30-8:30 all week and I highly recommend visiting if you can make it. You can buy tickets on the door for £5 ✨

My grandparents’ house is up for sale and of course I had to go have a nosy. I didn’t expect all their furniture to be as it was and see photos of them clearly still displayed in the room. It’s as if they’ve just nipped out and will be back soon, as it’d always been since I was a child.

How do you read massive books when the cat wants to sit on your lap? I don’t have the strength to hold it up, nor the heart to move her.

Bloody love Kathy Burke. Just finished reading ‘A Mind of My Own’ with my mum and we’ve been having the loveliest chats about Kathy the past few evenings. She’s so genuine and warm and hilarious and I wish she was my friend. I’m going to have to read it again.

We’ve reached the last series of Ghosts and I don’t want it to end. Watching an episode is my favourite part of the day now.

Dame Carol Robinson’s Desert Island Discs was a delight to listen to, but I can’t for the life of me understand exactly what mass spectrometry does. Reading about it has given me a bit of a headache. I love smart women.

Had a thrilling time with these shrubs on a wee walk this afternoon. I know it’s horribly obnoxious, but the compulsion I feel to pop a fuchsia bud is even more irresistible to me than bubble wrap and has been ever since I was the child I clearly still am.

I’ve had to put Elspeth Barker’s ‘O Caledonia’ down for the evening because my heart feels so heavy and sad about a pigeon.
