Sickle cell disease: where red blood cells become sickle-shaped, blocking blood flow and inducing pain. Primarily it affects people of African, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and South Asian origin. Over 15K people in the UK are living with SCD. Early diagnosis and Ro blood type saves lives!

Ro, a very rare blood subtype. Crucial for sickle cell patients. Only 2% of blood donors in the UK posses it, while the demand increases by 10%-15% annually. Specifically, 56% of black individuals and less than 2% of white individuals possess it.
