My fucking parents were offended that no psych asked for their opinion when I transitioned.
I was 35. Independent since 23. Married. With a kid. And they still felt entitled to deciding my life.

It's not just "If it fits I sits", it makes them feel safe and more relaxed. If it also provides high ground it makes them feel useful to the pack (it's you you are the pack) and if done properly it helps them keep warm (they have a higher body temp than you). Also makes them goofy as fuck.
