I don't think the new The Running Man is as strong as every Edgar Wright movie ever made, but this is a director that's not afraid to feint and have you thinking he's doing something stupid if it means you're surprised by what happens next. It does mean that this movie takes a while to get good.

You might be right, but I also think the movie as well as the original Richard Bachman novel is structured as a picaresque series of vignettes about Ben Richards running around and encountering different people and situations. The original Arnold movie wasn't about that at all.
