I’m flying to Los Angle-leeze today to try to make friends and sell some of these at #AWP25. Anyone want to drink beers and read stories with me??

I’m also showing off a bit because the world is a cesspool but my soul is not and little joys need to be big joys so I hope you don’t mind.

BAD NATURE by Ariel Courage

This is unputdownable. So funny, so snarlingly mean-spirited, so sad, so death-pondery, and so ultimately sweet and lovely. I wish I could read it again for the first time. Bad Nature rules. Read it if you dig reading about death, decay, and sadness but in a fun way.

HEADSHOT by Rita Bullwinkel

I’ve never read a novel like this. It’s epic and intimate but takes place in two days and across centuries. It’s detached and factual like something you’d read in the sports section, then tears into the blood and gore that makes women an infinite universal truth.

Oh! Forgot to post this one!

CONCERNING THE FUTURE OF SOULS by Joy Williams

Joy Williams is great. Most of this is too. Some of it is baffling but still lovely. Some of it left me befuddled and feeling a little like a big dummy. Still, dug pretty hard.

LAPVONA by Ottessa Moshfegh

Holy jeez. Brutal, disgusting, razor sharp, and excellent. When I say, “Not for everyone,” I mean, “If you don’t dig delicious, hilarious nihilism in your anti-church, anti-government, anti-humanity novels, stay the eff away.”

Same concept as the other day. Entanglements II, let’s say. A little corny, a little Animorphsy, still fun.

Come see us at Workhorse Brewing in KOP, PA tonight, friends! It’ll be WAY more fun than whatever else you’ve got planned, that’s for sure!…no offense (but kinda a little offense if it gets your butt to the punk rock show tonight).

Billionaires are dorks. Small presses rule. And if I do say so myself, this book from yours truly and @trident_press would be a terrific purchase with which to stick it in a billionaire’s eye on this most consumery day. Tap the 🔗 in the replies and tell the Bozos to sit on it and twist.

Holy smokes, this is the same cover as Mark Lindquist’s The King of Methlehem’s paperback edition from back in like 2007/2008/2009(?). Which press published the book you’re talking about here?? My mind is blown!
