Writing about civics and government; making things; dad & husband. Working with my brother on a documentary about American teachers. Yes, I did write all those Crashcourse history videos for John Green.
That’s a helpful taxonomy. I’m more concerned about what would disqualify Democrats, because there’s nothing off limits for Republicans. They would run Hitler’s reanimated corpse if they thought it would win an election.

The war on school books makes sense if you remember having to share textbooks over multiple years. I was required to make book covers to preserve the textbooks for the next class to use them. They were a visceral symbol of sharing resources, and a reminder that not everything is disposable.

It’s really helpful that he signals his big lies with “are you ready?”

My initial thought was that this must be fake, but then I read it again and realized that he’s claiming to do exactly what he says Democrats are “falsely” claiming he’s doing. This makes be believe it could be true.

I would be surprised if DJT ever had insurance before he became president. He looks like someone who never visited a doctor unless he was in pain, and then he just promised to pay the doctor directly and skipped out on the bill.

Love that baby King has like 125 followers on Bsky and 150 posts. I hope that everyone in Maine asks him, "Hey, did your dad teach you how to sell out constituents and bend over for your political opponents, kid?"

The crazy thing is, this is the way a lot of super rich people live. They borrow against their assets at super low rates and just re-finance over and over until they die. Thus they almost never pay taxes.

They have this guy named Trump, but when I say it, with my voice all slurred, it sounds a lot like "chump," which many people are saying is what I am. Putin, Putin loves Chump, and Kim Jong Oooon, loves Chump. Biggest, greatest Chump ever is what I'm hearing. Big Beautiful Chump is what they say.

How's he going to pay for all the vouchers? Austin takes all that local tax money and then redistributes it in one seriously f'd up system. Where's the revenue going to come from? Is he thinking that the CTE classes will be slave labor? Or maybe he's going to tax online gambling, 'cause its sinful?

The only way Zohran is going to create an artistic renaissance is if he is wildly successful lowering rents so that artists can afford to live here. If that's the case, I don't imagine they'll be fascist transhumanist futurists whose notion of St. Marks in the '70s comes from picture books.

Replacement as leader is insufficient. He needs to retire and be replaced as New York's senator. So does Gillibrand.

The idiom he's looking for is "alarm bells," not "bells and whistles." Not great for someone who claimed to have "the best words."

I will never understand why the debate on M4A wasn't framed as: yes, your taxes will go up, but neither you nor your employer will have to pay a 3rd party insurer whose business model relies on denying you coverage.

Interesting article, terrible headline. It should emphasize that there is no masculinity crisis, there's a meaningful work crisis that effects everybody except those lucky (I won't say talented) enough to be able to publish books about the masculinity crisis. Who's to blame: employers/investors

Can I pitch a story about how you never paid me for the work I did for Slate? Maybe you could ask @ositanwanevu.com about it.
