Which also reused a villain song from Oliver and the Artful Dodger!

Heck for a short-form one Yogi’s All-Star Comedy Christmas Caper has all the funny animal characters AND Fred and Barney in a cameo!

I remember how nearly 20 years ago now they ran a season of Ghibli films…

Narrow it may be, but lately it does feel like pastiches are, I dunno, maybe getting too obvious? At the same time there are some relatively recent films that involve pastiche that I have enjoyed (Mamoru Hosada's "Belle" comes to mind) so I will concede your point.

...be they various Pixar films, Spider-Man, to a lesser extent given affection for the prequels Star Wars, what have you. At least the average Christmas movie is, usually, a one-off.

...less in the sense of dated mores and morals but in what happened with some of the creatives. The Pirates of the Caribbean films are weighed down by Johnny Depp; the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Or they're from franchises that NEVER ENDED and don't evoke so much nostalgia...

someone wisely said that when you’re a child you believe in Santa Claus, then you find out he’s not real, but then when you have children of your own suddenly he’s real again. But some bozos are fixated on the initial disillusionment and won’t snap out of it

I'll believe that when I finally see Santa Claus: The Movie given a proper reevaluation in the U.S. (I've never understood why it's okay to like what you like with Grinch or Polar but not with Santa Claus: The Movie.)

Loved how one or two rows behind me at that screening there was a dad with a little boy who was unfamiliar with the CC story and not 10 minutes in the kid whispered "He's a bad man!" in awe.

(The 2009 Christmas Carol is legit underrated though)

I'm way more uncomfortable with how over-merchandised the Grinch story has become in the intervening years, to the point that the oh-so-Christian Hobby Lobby stores have at least one whole aisle devoted to it, it's honestly worse than the Peanuts merchandising at this point.
