Stancil has no theory of mind for other people beyond 'social media conformism' so I'd just ignore him here. If he had to believe people get mad due to real things that they are able to perceive and remember with some measure of accuracy his theory of the world would explode along with his head.

They wish they still lived in the world they came of age within, and while I understand why they're behaving as though that belief were true, we can't afford that sort of nostalgia, anymore. They've had a full decade to adjust to the world as it is today and if they won't do it they need to retire.

Protecting our neighborhoods from the invasions and random violence of ICE agents might be a nice goal for a future date but we have to stick to realistic, achievable aims, like making it impossible for a Senator (that's me!) to ever be held accountable for anything he does, even literal crimes.

Unfortunately their version of 'afraid of their own base' isn't 'and therefore obey them;' it's 'and try to sap them of their energy through demoralization.'

At some point Dems need to be willing to let people feel the pain of what they've voted for; when people feel they can safely vote Republican because Dems have protected them from Republican policies it keeps the Republican Party viable beyond when it should be.

I don't want to get too deep in Demlinology but I think he's posting this shit to position himself to try to get the defectors back on board the next time they have to try to play hardball, so he's acting like they behaved reasonably instead of out of cowardice or malice.
