Where do they come up with this BS? Schools have Remembrance assemblies. One I worked at was old enough to have memorials to former students who had died in WW1 and WW2 and wreaths were laid there every year. During the 2 minute silence, you could hear a pint drop - even in the middle of break time.

When I taught English online to children in China, they would often use a western name. I once taught a kid called Spiderman.

I used to work in North London and quite a few students changed their name. I'd always tell them: I'm happy to call you what you want to be called, your name is important.

Some of them did ditch the English name as they got older and became more confident in who they were.

It's surely incompatible with the Equalities Act. Someone old may not look like a stereotypical female but age is protected. Someone queer may not look like a stereotypical female but sexuality is protected. Someone trans may not look like a stereotypical female but gender reassignment is protected.
