Where our legitimate hurt and anger at the injustices we suffer is being equated to the bigotry and abuse of our oppressors. Having just lost my mom last Tuesday (funeral was yesterday), wrestling with grief is now my new hobby (yay?!?). I spookily came across this graphic about grief that is giving me some comfort….
Graphic from a work by Lois Tomkin, dated 1996, figure 86. Describes grief as a circle. In one path the author describes how people generally assume that grief will shrink over time, while the author argues that the second path is how grief works; that the human grows to encapsulate the grief, integrate it and becoming a greater being as a result.
