Spanning 1975-2001, it follows Patch, Saint, & Misty as they cope with the fallout from Misty’s near-kidnapping by a serial killer, thwarted by Patch, & Saint’s lifelong search for the killer. TBH could have been 300 pgs instead of 600, but it was full of twists & deeply human moments.

7 people go on a pilgrimage to the planet Hyperion’s Time Tombs. On the journey they each tell their backstory to pass the time. This includes all the people they had sex with for reasons??? The book ends with them singing the Wizard of Oz song as they enter the TT. No plans to finish the series.

Two agents on opposite sides of the time war begin corresponding & gradually fall in love. The book alternates chapters between the agents finding the letters hidden across time & universes, & the letters themselves. We also see a mysterious Seeker trailing them, trying to learn their secrets.

Obviously it’s hard to condense a big book into a graphic novel but they did a decent job. There were a few joke setups that didn’t include the punchline. I saw the book author speak & she was brutal about editing it down. The illustrations are gorgeous. I recommend reading the full novel first.

Evie & Trystan continue to try to decipher the prophecy before the evil King Benedict does. A new urgency is brought because Kingsley is becoming less of a magical frog & more of a regular frog. There are betrayals large and small, and a diabolical cliffhanger. The slow burn finally reaches its end.

6 magicians, or medians, are recruited to spend a year vying for 5 spots in a secret society that controls the actual Library of Alexandria. At first they seemed like cliches & stereotypes but they are fleshed out by the end and you care more about their actions & motivations. 1st in a trilogy.

I grew up reading all of the “books” that were actually compilations of his columns (and made it to the state speech meet with one of the columns), so there were large portions that I had read before but plenty that I hadn’t. He says that he always loved journalism & this comes through in every page

A global pandemic almost completely wipes out civilization. A wandering symphony/Shakespeare troupe travels from town to town, unknowingly drawing the ire of a doomsday prophet. Flashbacks to before the Collapse follow an actor, his family & friends, & their legacies past the end of the world.

Regency fae! Dora is “faerie cursed,” with her emotions drained by a fae lord. She assumes she’ll never marry because of her strange reactions but wants to help her cousin. She meets an extremely unpleasant man by chance and is exposed to the harsh realities of poor (and rich) English people.

Finally got to read the first book in the trilogy! I liked the second one better but some of the world building from this one might have made it better. An anachronistic fantasy romance about a spice trader, a shapeshifting dragon, and a false goddess. Also centaurs and werewolves!

As noted, the first Gothic novel. A prince is killed by a gigantic helmet on the morning of his wedding. His father reacts horribly in pretty much every way that he can, while a mysterious stranger arouses Dad’s ire and also catches the eye of his daughter. Old family secrets are brought to light.

Linus is a verry boring social worker who can be depended on to give objective reports about the orphanages filled with magical children he is tasked with investigating. Extremely Upper Management sends him to an unusual island, highly classified, and his whole life is upended by the inhabitants. 🫶🏻
