I am changing my account name, as I am transferring the clinpsy forum and all related social media accounts to a new owner. This account is my personal one, so it needs a new name!

The world is feeling a bit bleak, so I thought I'd share some of the doodles my teenage daughter leaves around the place. I think my favourites are first and last on this short thread.

It seems like an appropriate time to share the impact of Ketamine on the body: www.priorygroup.com/blog/long-te... I don't think it is widely known outside medical circles that long-term ketamine use can irreparably damage the bladder, leading to pain, bleeding and urinary incontinence.
Long-term effects of ketamine
Ketamine is a powerful anaesthetic drug that's used for pain management in veterinary settings and occasionally in hospitals. Here are some long-term effects of the drug.

Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up.

We should share Rose Ferreira's inspiring story as widely as possible to spite those trying to erase female and minority impact in STEM: scitechdaily.com/nasa-intern-... I see no "DEI", just an incredible, determined, accomplished space scientist, who earned her opportunities every step of the way.

Let’s stop debating whether or not there’s a mental health crisis. There is.

Mental health makes up 20% of health issues but only gets 10% of NHS funding.

There are 2 million people on a waiting list for mental health support.

This is not a culture war issue. It’s real and urgent.

Is it appropriate for a secondary school to be playing evangelical videos from Andy Bannister like this to pupils in RE (with no critique or equivalent about any other religion or belief system)? www.youtube.com/watch?v=76Ph... @humanists.uk @profaliceroberts.bsky.social @adamrutherford.bsky.social

Sad to see the implosion of Guardian media. It seems a very weird decision to sell the Observer to an upstart digital/events company with strong associations with oil companies & dodgy regimes, but even worse to ditch Carole Cadwalladr who has been such a beacon of fearless investigative journalism.

Superb piece of investigative journalism here (via @jvipondmd.bsky.social). How a rogue doctor milked America’s healthcare business for millions - including assigning cancer diagnoses to people who didn’t have cancer. Yes, he seems to have killed a few. #medsky

Total AI fail. When asked when to use Smoothed vs Smoothened, Google gives the examples:
"He straightened his tie nervously and smoothed (down) his hair" and "You can find the definition of 'smoothened' on Vocabulary.com".

Black Friday? Don't buy it. Few of the bargains are as good as they seem. 80% of electronics and clothing bought on Black Friday, plus the plastic packaging they are wrapped in, end up in landfill, incineration, or low-quality recycling after a very short life.

Needed a place without fascism, misinformation and bots promoting porn, where I can connect with fellow health and care professionals. I want to read posts that are a reliable source of unbiased news, and posts that give me hope about the world.

I like cats, SCUBA diving, fungi, music, art & books.
