One of the things I love about Philadelphia is that our transit is unabashedly partisan for our sports teams.

I know other cities do this too, but I think we’re the most consistent about using our buses, trains, etc as mobile sports cheerleaders. 🦅⚾️🏟️🏀⚽️

Absolutely fascinating tacit admission in this news story. Longstanding press practice is to refer to the "White House" as being synonymous with the president.

In this case, the *President* did something and the *White House* was blindsided.

I've been lucky enough to never have had to worry where my next meal was coming from. This week, as the cruelty of the SNAP seesaw got ever worse, I decided to pick up some groceries for mutual aid distribution.

(n.b. I've already given cash to my local food bank and will give more)

I think we have crossed the tipping point in which there have been more Amish romance novels published than there are actual Amish PEOPLE in Pennsylvania.

There is something especially egregious and shameful about a small, gutsy arm of a large corporation being forced to subsidize their parent like this.

I picked up these little editions of classic texts today for $5 apiece. They’re really nice for the price. Hardcover, gold-sprayed edges, and remarkably legible print given their small size.

This sky, man. Wow.

I love that we get to be on this planet. I love this planet.

Halloween in 2025: candy for the kids, Know Your Rights cards for the grownups.

Handed out to every single person who came to my door, regardless of background or potential political affiliation.

Doing my part to keep #EpsteinFiles and Epstein/Trump victims visible:

At the airport bookstore, put copies of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir facing OUT.

I’m sorry we all failed you so miserably, Ms. Giuffre. Rest in peace.

Hanging out with two of the sobrinos this weekend while their mom is away. Tonight‘s dinner was carnitas. Not pictured: the gobs of sour cream and queso that the 14 y/o added. 😂

I don’t actually want @ifbookspod.bsky.social to do a follow up episode based on this book riffing off of Who Moved My Cheese, but I find it bizarrely funny that this book exists in the world. And I figured others might too. (“WSJ bestseller,” lol)

This is how tiny it really is. Too fast for me to be able to put my finger next to it for scale.

Look at this adorable lil’ Mediterranean House Lizard! Not native to PA, but apparently have taken up residence in a few counties here.

The fake ads in The Onion are on point too.

The print edition of The Onion goes HARD.

Just ordered a gift subscription for some of my favorite teenagers. Highly recommend you do the same.

According to Pew data from 2023, only 66% of Americans could correctly identify which party controlled the House (and 63% could identify which party held the Senate).

Hands-down, the best culinary tip of my 40s has been to keep a Pyrex of homemade pickled onions in the fridge at all times.

I put them on EVERYTHING. Eggs, sandwiches, tuna, rice, beans, polenta, every imaginable type of salad….

Got two copies. Might do surgery on one of them, so it can become a paperback and be sent to folks in prison.
