Reached an obscure financial milestone that gives me a little bit of security. At this moment, I have more money in retirement investments than I owe on my mortgage. 🎉🥳🍾
I won’t be doing anything about it, and it could definitely change tomorrow, but it’s cozy thought in a cold world.

I’m dealing with seasonal allergies for the first time and while I’ve always known it sucks, I can now confirm it is both awful and unfair. Like, I’m being punished for what? Wanting to breathe!?

One of my joys as part of a small progressive Christian church is baking a loaf of sourdough for communion service each month. Tonight’s loaf is extra special as it was carved with the initials of a beloved family impacted by suicide. I love how the bake transformed the cuts, but didn’t erase them.

One of my goals for the year is to get more sleep- something I’ve wanted to do for years. I’ve made slow progress, but I’m proud to be in bed before 11 more regularly lately! Yay, sleep!

Building statues of humans and naming buildings for people is both idolatry and setting yourself up for inevitable disappointment. Humans will always let us down in hindsight (as they should). Let’s name things after natural phenomena and plant trees that will outlive us instead.

I’m watching Blue Planet: The Deep (2018) and it is blowing my mind, but walking on the sea floor of Antarctica seems like a cursed action. I think that might be the moment that Mother Earth gave up on us.

An infectious disease expert just told me to do my part by putting away the bird feeder i specifically bought to give me joy during the COVID lockdown and it feels like a pretty low blow from science.
