A stranger to the people of Norvrandt, none among them knew that they would one day owe this traveller far more than their lives. There had been whispers of him arriving from someplace in the East, but as with any warrior, we may never know from whence he truly came. Our hero's tale begins in the lush forests of Rak'tika. Beneath its bountiful boughs, the traveller wandered with neither path nor destina-tion. Little did he know, his legs would lead him afoul of the protective Viis. A fairy tale style illustration of a hooded man from behind, showing him with large yellow wings and yellow stars. Text reads: The Nu Mou soon rejoined the traveller. At the Nu Mou's side was a pale white fox, with a tail so soft and large that it cast a shadow behind the creature. If you ever get tired of classic lentil soup flavours, this is a recipe from the FFXIV cookbook. Very very very hearty and soothing on a cold winter night, and it’s got about 16g of protein per serving 🩷

I had never seen chestnuts so large, but the server said it was because the trees in the Black Shroud are very old, and the Guardian Tree is the oldest! I wonder how large I'll get when I get older, kupo? Maybe I'll be as big as Chieftain Moglin, blessed be his pom! Difficulty: Easy • Prep Time: 30 minutes • Cook Time: 2 hours Yield: 6 servings • Dietary Notes: Vegan Equipment: Medium pot, blender 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 leeks, minced 2 carrots, minced 1 celery stalk, minced 1 fennel bulb, minced 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 cup (200 g) red lentils 5 cups (1.25 L) vegetable stock 1 bay leaf 1 ½ cups (280 g) chestnuts, chopped Croutons, for garnish 1. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, warm the oil. Add the leeks, carrot, celery, fennel, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables have softened, about 10 minutes. Add the lentils, stir to coat, and cook for 2 minutes. 2. Add the vegetable stock and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat. Simmer until the lentils have softened, about 20 minutes. Add the chestnuts and cook for another 10 minutes. 3. Transfer to a blender and blend until smooth. Top with croutons before serving.
