The narrative that anti-vaxxers or QAnon weirdos will come back from the brink if we're nice enough to them isn't tenable morally and doesn't hold up empirically. Ostracizing people whose beliefs harm others is a critical aspect of a functioning marketplace of ideas.

Not even skeptics so much as full-on denialists. "THEY want us to think the world is round, but we know the lamestream media lies about everything so clearly our world is a flat interstellar way station built by the reptilians when they built The Matrix. It's the only explanation that makes sense."
