Doc Samson's origin is hilarious: he cures Banner of the Hulk, bombards himself with the gamma energy extracted from Banner which turns him into a green-haired hunk, asks Betty out because he's feeling himself, and Banner jealously exposes himself to gamma again to clobber him. All in 20 pages.
Samson, a normal scientist and therapist, bombards himself with the gamma radiation he extracted from Banner Samson is now ripped and muscular and has long green hair. "If my colleagues in the American Psychiatric Association could see me now" Betty knocks on Samson's door to thank him for his help and asks her to go on a drive with him while Banner rests at the hospital. Banner snuck out, sees them drive off together and speculates that Betty could never love puny Banner next to the now gamma irradiated hunk Samson Samson splash page where he gloats about his new physique and wonders if he could have Betty too. Betty's thought bubble shows that she appreciates Samson taking her out for the evening, but that she loves Bruce and wants to see him. Meanwhile Banner rants about how he'll turn himself into the Hulk again to beat the shit out of Samson for trying to steal his girl.

Incredible Hulk #377: During a hypnotic therapy session with Doc Samson, Banner relives the night his abusive father murdered his mother. Banner lashes out at his traumatized child-self for suppressing any emotional reaction in the moment, only to be reminded that he's been reacting ever since.
Banner watches his child-self sit with a blank expression next to his dead mother, while his father (seen here as a huge monster in Banner's traumatic memory) wanders away. Banner begs his child self to cry. Kid Banner says "Emotion's bad. It hurts people." Banner yells "Not all emotion. Cry. Cry big racking sobs!" Banner slaps his child self demanding he cry, scream, shout, react. The Hulk erupts out of his child self for one panel, frightening Banner back. Reverted back to a child form, Kid Banner says: "There. I reacted. A nuclear reaction. Happy now."

You couldn't risk blocking Screaming Nemesis if you were playing a life gain deck because that one decision disabled life gain for the rest of the game. You couldn't swing for damage or block with a large creature because a dead Screaming Nemesis will burn all the damage done to it back to your HP.

Incredible Hulk #372 and #373 (pencilled by Dale Keown) delivers on concepts Hulk creators will revisit for generations to come: a mysterious latched door that glows green when opened appears in Banner's psyche, the dormant Green Hulk grotesquely erupts from his skin, the alters wage psychic warfare
Banner transforms out of anger for the first time in several issues and the Green Hulk persona which has been assumed dead graphically bursts out of his skin like it's fabric Hulk fully transformed. Blood, hair, and bits of flesh scatter around him. The FBI ID banner from the skin left behind. There's a joke about the FBI being trained observers, while they miss a shirtless Banner motorcycling by Grey Hulk and Green Hulk battle over the door in Banner's mind

I love how Peter David differentiated Banner's Grey/Joe Fix-It persona from Green Hulk by making him a cunning asshole. In one issue Hulk rescues a child trapped under rubble & his enemy is moved by empathy to assist in the rescue. Hulk sucker punches the guy unconscious the second the kid is safe.
Hulk hears screams after a child in a home that had granted Banner shelter for the day collapses during his battle. He waves off his opponent and runs over to help. The man asks "Why do you care?" Hulk says "I don't know, but I do." The man agrees and moves rubble with Hulk. We see the foe's inner monologue about how if he'd had a grandson, he'd be the child's age. Hulk leaps back into frame carrying an ambulance, waits to see the child safely loaded in, and then knocks the enemy who just helped him out with a spinning back fist before grabbing the ambulance and leaping back toward the hospital

Incredible Hulk #373: Hulk Heimlich's a live grenade.
A soldier throws a grenade at Hulk who is facing away from him, Hulk turns with his mouth open and the grenade lands directly into his mouth Hulk chokes on the grenade, Heimlich's himself, and the grenade explodes inches from his face. Hulk screams and grabs his face screaming about how the shrapnel got into his eyes. Doc Samson, who Hulk has been fighting this issue, rushes over to assist him Hulk opens his eyes, yells SUCKER, and resumes the beat down on Samson

If you're Tsutomu Nihei, having your characters discover a shortcut is an excuse to draw as much of the tower they're ascending as possible.
The cast climb a rickety staircase a previous party assembled at the side of the tower The stairway ends and now the characters have to climb up a crack in the wall. The 80th floor, the cast are tiny dots in the bottom right of the page against the gigantic columns.

"All you have to do is pour the salt onto it." In the early goings of Tower Dungeon, we're told there's a Slime ahead. Tsutomu Nihei's vision of what a fantasy Slime monster can be is as grand and terrifying as you'd expect.
A conversation between our heroes in which they strategize about how to fight a Giant Slime guarding the great hall ahead, "accurate in flinging secretions from a distance. DO NOT LET IT SEE YOU." Our MC is told "All you have to do is pour salt onto it." The reveal of the slime's room riddled with hundreds of skulls, we see a body lifted into the air barely holding together by the exposed spine and then a giant eye. A spread of a massive humanoid slime carrying that body while hovering through the air, dwarfing the warriors in the foreground. Dozens of dead bodies are stuck with mucus and slime to the pillars adorning the room.

An eyepatched sailor in a rowbot finds Aphrodite in a pearl floating on the sea The sailor, much older now, awakens in a pub and walks out for the evening. A mannequin sneaks up on him from a nearby foggy alley and knocks him out with a chop to the back of the head. The Mannequin in a cape drags the sailor into the alley, peels back his eyepatch, and reveals Aphrodite inserted into the sailor's skull like a glass eye radiating brilliant light. The Mannequin clasps the Aphrodite pearl into its hands and wanders off into the darkened streets.

In a post-Robocop fight with Abomination, Hulk graphically melts his longtime nemesis down to ooze with radioactive waste. (Incredible Hulk #364)
Abomination fighting the current Grey Hulk has Hulk in a full nelson hold, monologuing about how he misses the power and savagery of the less-intelligent but more imposing Green Hulk he used to know. Hulk reaches for a barrel of radioactive waste. Hulk responds to Abominations "I miss (Green Hulk)" with the quip "I never miss" and body slams Abomination into the waste barrels. Abomination gets up screaming and sizzling and holding his eyes while Hulk smiles a big toothy grin. "Toxic waste. Nastier than you. But not nastier than me. Nothing is." Abomination unambiguously melts on page. We even see a stray eyeball among the muck.
