Let's remember that when DOJ was trying to catalogue all the references to Trump in the Epstein files, they gave unrestricted access to about a thousand people in multiple departments. There have to be multiple copies squirreled away all over.

The U.S. is dry tinder for H5N1.

Covid-19 damages the orbitofrontal cortex, the brain region that calculates risk and the consequences of our actions. OFC damage also lowers anxiety about making risky decisions. That's adaptive for a virus.

Study: getting Covid increases your chance of crashing your car by 25%.

Reduce the political donation limit to a day's wages at the fed minimum; $58 right now. (Buckley v Valeo would allow it) That would make billionaires and Citizen's United irrelevant. Bezos and ExxonMobil could each donate $58 to a PAC or candidate, just like you and me.

The term "Dark Ages" refers to the centuries long absence of booty shorts from popular fashion.

High spenders win congressional primaries 90+% of the time. 80+% of that money comes from millionaires/billionaires. Candidates who disagree with the rich get filtered out.

The *first* thing we need to do is focus on outlawing large donations. All other policy is pointless before that.

He also would have killed bin Laden in the first months of 2001. Oh well.

H5N1 is going to make us feel nostalgic for 2020.

Now I have to find out who Brianna Wu is.

A recent Gallup poll showed less than 50% of Americans trust law enforcement. The only 50+% group was elderly white conservatives, and they were only at 62%. That demo should be a slam dunk, 95+%.

The cops have traded legitimacy for short term immunity from consequences.

When I start typing a sentence on my Iphone starting with "The", autocorrect generally assumes that I am writing about the town of Thetford. It's a nice little town, but I'm not obsessed with it. I send follow up texts with the explanation "Awtokerrect," which autocorrect now recognizes.

Most people have already suffered Covid, often multiple times, so their immune systems are exhausted and disregulated. It's no surprise that it's hitting harder.

They go after the environmental community because the alternative would be to go after the 70% of Vermonters who own their homes. Most VT homeowners would rather watch people freeze than see the value of their primary asset go down. Forest dwelling animals don't donate/vote.

Vanya on 42nd Street is the correct answer.

This would be a great session for the legislature to dust off that single payer plan from the Shumlin era and implement the "Bronze" version of it.

Nobody has an MRI and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA) at the same time unless something seriously bad is going on inside their cranium. Given his 1-week disappearance and drooping mouth he probably had a left hemisphere stroke/TIA around Labor Day. Also dementia and diastolic failure.

Noam Chomsky once pointed out that issue by issue, w/o political labels, a majority of Americans agreed with him.

The Dems have a money problem: too much. They can't really dig in on economics without offending their donors. The GOP can offer tax cuts and dereg to the donors and bigotry to the base so it's no problem for them.

The Dems could win on progressive values if they could win w/o millionaire donors.

Being Covid cautious is like a Twilight Zone episode where 99% of people forget that microbes exist, shut down the sewer and water treatment plants, and think you are weird for carrying a water filter. You and a small band of people try to find doctors who wash their hands.

We think back a little over a century to World War 1 and think, "What a pointless slaughter." The founding fathers thought back a little over a century to the Catholic vs. Protestant English Civil War (which killed 10% of adult men in England) and thought the same.
