I can't post a photo of the students but this is the grandest room I which I have ever taught Mindfulness. It's the Octagon in the Queen's Building on the Queen Mary Campus. Two groups of lovely 2nd Year Psychology Students with their lecturers.

What's stopping us? 🤷🏻‍♀️
The #climatecrisis can provoke overwhelming emotions...
Fear, anger, grief - and sometimes numbness or shutting down. If we’re not equipped to process these emotions, we will struggle to take the action needed. [1/4]

This is a fascinating piece. It does not mention "mindfulness" but we know these mechanisms are at work within mindfulness practice. Vidyamala Birch at "Breathworks" would have a lot to say about this. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

The mind/body revolution: how the division between ‘mental’ and ‘physical’ illness fails us all
New research shows western medicine’s traditional split between brain and body is, in fact, far from clear cut – and could provide a breakthrough for many complex conditions

A huge thank you to Joe and Fanny Houseman (RIP) on whose upturned gravestone I sit Maransati most mornings as part of my walk around Tottenham Cemetery. Frosty these last few mornings. #maransati #meditation

Procrastination a student curse? I think Mindfulness coupled with Self-Worth Theory (Covington 84) has real potential. Currently developing practices for students at Queen Mary Uni London to test. I'll keep you posted. #procrastination #mindfulness

Always interesting to find research that confirms ones subjective experience. I know approaching discomfort practices have lessened resistance to my behaviour changes. I surprise myself by getting out to walk each day whatever the weather. Just less friction!

I really enjoyed this conversation with Professor Mark Williams, about living with intention, spending our “attention budget” wisely, the inner critic, and what it means to integrate mindfulness into our lives.

My fav song from our concert on Sunday. Based on EE Cummings poem.

breathing any—lifted from the no
of all nothing—human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?

now the eyes of my eyes are opened)"

I've started using Sense Foraging as a homework practice in my MF courses. This is why. #mindfulness
What's the link between personal growth and all these breath and body practices? Prof. Zindel Segal and I discuss the connections between contemplative/Buddhist theory and our research on #senseforaging, now out on Mind & Life's Insights page: www.mindandlife.org/insight/the-...
The Senses: A Pathway to Well-being
The authors introduce the concept of 'sense foraging' and the importance of attending to sensation in contemplative practice.

I find myself reflecting on the hub of the Bhavachakra. The three drivers (poisons) of the wheel. Greed/Craving (Cockerel) Hatred (Snake) and Delusion/Ignorance (Pig). They seem to be extra busy right now.

As a cheerleader for mindfulness myself, I do worry about the stream of messages on SM that, although sent with good intent, have the collective effect of making me and I suspect many others, feel inadequate practitioners. The antithesis of mindful self acceptance.

Watched the film "Outrun" last night. Nora Fingscheidt directs the wonderful Saoirse Ronan who is on screen 99% of the time. Could argue it's a dramatic illustration of the role of "coming to our senses" in addiction recovery. "Sense Foraging" with weather, wind and waves. #mindfulness
