In a 1964 letter to Mrs A. Mountfield, Tolkien writes: "All teaching is exhausting, and depressing and one is seldom comforted by knowing when one has had some effect." (1/2)

For #TolkienTrewsday I want to mention Finrod ❤️
While not a typical knight-errant, Finrod embodies honour, loyalty, noble wandering, and moral striving — ideals Tolkien associated with #errantry. His self-sacrifice in Sauron’s dungeon is perhaps the most chivalric moment in Tolkien's legendarium.
