The Live Photo feature in phone cameras has really been great for catching the moment. I caught a few bolts of lightening in Mexico by reacting instead of anticipating, then resetting the key shot. This feature is nothing new, I just enjoy it.

I don’t know if this is real but the comment has me #InAweOfMankind. And even though we had a couple of those things a century ago, were so different now. youtube.com/shorts/e7MP3...

To a billion people Auto Rickshaws are just a means. For their drivers: a life, lifeline, and versatile. For me they are novelty and I love riding them. Watching fleets weave traffic is satisfying. Their place in culture and the culture around them could be a study.

My prompt was “middle-aged Indian man as a Funko Pop doll” in #Midjourney. Results started strange (a gun!?) but no matter how much I refined or what images I used for reference, the result was always with a beard. Is this an issue with web sources, stereotypes, pop culture, or Indian men? All? #ai

Mont Rotui as seen from Belvedere Lookout (~250m above sea level) in Mo’orea, French Polynesia, Oct 2024. I was looking right at it and it still didn’t seem real.

Had the privilege of visiting French Polynesia recently because I wanted to be near the center of that view. Spent 99% of my life in one spot. Need to see the rest of our planet.

French Polynesia has islands with such low light pollution that we can take shots like this with our cellphones.

Venus setting, reflecting off the Pacific, our galaxy’s center above. iPhone 16 pro, 24mm, 10 second night shot, on a gorillapod. Hazy and not perfect but so cool! #space
