Living on Gunai-Kurnai country in Latrobe City, Victoria, Australia. Wondering WTF happened to integrity in the last council election. Gardener whose veggie excess goes to Food Bank. Book hoarder.

What's with the giant Cappy?

At the end of the row. I had basil beside it, and gave them magic banana peel water few times. Must be that. First it went all rangy with no flowers. "I won't do that again".
Now twice the height of others and loaded with flowers.
Late, but bloody great.

Beware of Murdoch papers
Totally disgusted by Melbourne Herald Sun
Apart from everything else, I have never had such arrogant and rude behaviour from a call centre!
Definitely not fit to line bird cages.
Any suggestions? I have a few ideas of what I will be doing next, but more welcome.

Zukes - Help Needed!

I once lived where the only time you had to lock your car was during zuke season, as if found unlocked it would be filled.

This is PART of a photo at a nearby N'hood House Food Bank, from a home grower.

Help needed with non-egg ways to use them? Eggs not cheap.

Greek Basil ???

Did anyone else get sucked in by this? There was a shortage of Sweet Basil seedlings at Bunnings, so I thought I would try this. I think this is how paint stripper would taste.

Hope the worms like it.

Oooops, wrong pic. This is how it currently looks.
Think of it as some sort of a pram for seedlings.

Don't usually grow brown onions, they are so cheap. But the commercial ones don't store well, and are huge bulbs full of water. So this is one punnet, with the clumps into the garden until big enough to lift, divide and plant out singly. Harvested summer solstice. #gardeningau #Aussieveggiegardens

Looking for Australian Gardeners

Just in the hope that a few of us might congregate behind #gardeningau to make it easier to find each other. 💚Love to see what others are doing.

Here, for attention, is a photo of my current mobile seedlings nursery. I need to move them out of the sun a lot.

Who has a Potting Bench? 💚

I cannot live without mine. Very informal. Old table with Mum's marble slab on it. Storage for pots underneath, soil in bin on stool on right. Deep tray and matching scoop, forget the brand, got it years ago.

But not near a tap. 🙁

Early Morning Light in the Veggie GARDEN

1/2 The Head Gardener made these for me over 15 years ago, and they haven't been out for a few years. Some repainted this year. I was going to paint stripes/stars/hearts on some. One day.

Just as well. We have just done a first day of the year shoot, and there will be more coming. Worked on the bed previously known as Bed 1. Looking for names, we think we will call it Patagonia. There are two more, each half the size of this.

There may, in this world, be people who have never even SEEN an Apple Cuke. The white ones.

I have been searching my files for some nice flowers, but no luck. So here is a veggie garden shot. Nice empty path up the centre, I need to re-take with broken down wheelbarrow on it.

But my lovely, very green lime tree is left of centre, in a pot with a most beautiful glaze.

Did Santa bring you anything this year for the garden ??

A friend, is a Ryobi girl, and Santa was good. Not sure what.

I'm an Ozito girl, and love this. Here with small battery pack, eats BIG limbs. But nothing from Santa. Need to organise better. Mulch brought to you by corn. #gardening #mygarden

Once upon a time, I was the private gardener for a garden with 900+ roses. I only have three now, in my home garden. One is General Gallieni, who escaped from his pot with his roots in the mulch. He is doing well.

Fake Money: This makes their appeal look legit with very few transparent actual public donations ($465) through the books.

These blue-glaze bird baths are brilliant, but need to be kept clean. I THINK the birds think they are bigger water sources, reflecting the sky. They need perching/hiding points if possible. Two together work weell.

Biggest tip for Aussie critters, esp birds.
Water and nectar plants. We overwhelmingly grow Grevilleas and Bansiasa, a few Callistermons, and the place is hopping/flying/darting.
Then add water, but as far as possible from the veggie garden, but within view of kitchen sink (no-dishwasher house)

2/2 I'm really aching to see overall views of gardens, especially veggie patches. And photos of the process/ideas, rather than close-ups of flowers. Although there are some really wonderful photos around.
#VeggieRecipes are good too.
Do you grow #UnusualPlants ?

Any Garden Starter Packs Around?

1/2 I would 💜to see/join a StarterPack for gardening, especially Australian Veggie Gardens, but lack time/skillset to do one? Does anyone know of any?
Or can help with good tags, apart from these?

Wishing Everyone a Merry Christmas, and I hope the New Year is one of peace and progress.

If you are alone at Christmas, through choice or circumstances, I see you, and I send love. 💜

If you are driving, make sure it is not faster than your Guardian Angel can fly.

New documentary release on the land bridge between Tasmania and the mainland of Australia.
Fascinating watching.

Today, at its peak. Leaves are bit short and spare due to repotting. Sometimes they are huge and long.
December 21, 2024 at 1:37 AM
The leaves are much sparser than usual, as it was repotted this year, and bulbs left dry for about a month. I thought it would struggle to produce flowers.
This is it in the same pot in 2016. Yes, it is the same bird bath.
