One of the most resonant things I learned in college was from my political philosophy prof: "The hardest thing you can do is form your own opinions." Everyone and everything has an agenda they're selling. Staying informed is difficult but necessary in democracy.
Counting on corporate media to lead the way seems historically unwise. Same goes for corporate search engines. This will sound self-interested, and in part functionally it is, but definitely find yourself independent source(s) to weed through what the various corporates want you to want.
